I MAKE MY OWN VERSION OF A COSTA FAVOURITE FOR JUST 58P

When it comes to baking, the end product of the process is undoubtedly the most rewarding part as you have yourself a delicious sweet treat to enjoy.

However, what goes into that can often be a heap of time and an even bigger heap of a mess to clean in the kitchen depending on what you have chosen to make.

This understandably puts many people off the idea of baking as it is a time-consuming process that frequently involves a lot of cleaning up afterwards.

Home baking does not always have to be complex and convoluted though, as demonstrated by a thrifty home baker who has made their own version of a Costa favourite for just 58p.

Taking to TikTok under their handle @majormumhacks, the user shared their twist on a popular snack from the coffee chain.

Revealing their homemade recipe for Costa's pastry custard twists, the vlogger wrote in the video's caption: 'You can't tell the difference from the ones on the Costa menu.

'It's such an easy hack that you can make with the kids for a fun baking activity, not to mention you save money on food.'

She added that you would only need four ingredients to make them: consisting of two rolls of puff pastry, a pot of custard, some chocolate chips as well as some milk to brush over before baking.

Moving on to the method for the simple homemade dish, she advised bakers to open the puff pastry and spread a few spoonfuls of custard on top.

Next, she says you should sprinkle your desired amount of chocolate chips on the custard before placing another layer of puff pastry on top and cutting the pastry into six segments using a pizza cutter.

However, she said that if you prefer thinner twists, you can cut the swirls into ten segments instead.

To bake the items, the home cook said they should be put in the oven at 200C for 20-25 minutes.

Responding to the recipe, other users were quick to praise the vlogger for how easy and cost-effective it looked.

One user enthused: 'My son love these from Co-Op but £1.10 every morning is a joke I'm defo going to try these thanks'.

A second added: 'These look incredible!'

Another said: 'They look amazing'.

A fourth wrote: 'These look banging'.
