THE BACHELOR'S MATTY 'J' JOHNSON REVEALS WHY THIS COMMON PARENTING 'FAIL' IS ACTUALLY THE BEST THING FOR HIS FAMILY WITH LAURA BYRNE: 'WE'RE TOTALLY FINE WITH THAT'

Matty 'J' Johnson has opened up about why a common parenting 'fail' is actually the best thing for his family.

The former Bachelor star, 36, and his wife Laura Byrne, 38, have revealed that they allow their two daughters - Marlie-Mae, five, and Lola, three -  to share their bed.

And despite a widely-held perception it leads to a restless night, Matty has actually found the opposite to be true.

'There's definitely this narrative that you shouldn’t allow your kids to bed with you,' the reality TV star explained to news.com.au on Thursday.

'We pretty much every morning wake up with both kids in our beds, and we're totally fine with that,' he told the publication.

'It means everyone gets a much better night's sleep rather than dealing with a screaming toddler who's being dragged back into her bed,' he continued.

It comes after the reality star revealed that sharing his parenting fails on social media actually makes him feel better.

He told Nine Honey that parenting his two daughters was 'a never-ending list of failures'.

'There is nothing that makes me feel more normal and not like a total failure then when I share a story of a parenting struggle,' he said.

Matty gave examples such as, 'trying to get rid of the dummy, failed sleep routines or my child hating me'.

'Other parents reach out to me either on social media or in person and say, "I'm going through the same problem!"' he says, and that makes him feel better.

Matty and Laura announced their engagement while on holiday in Fiji in 2018.

The couple tied the knot on the South Coast in 2022.

They welcomed Marlie-Mae in 2019, followed by Lola in February, 2021.
